PDX Pop-Up Shops offer unique gifts for the holiday season

Enjoy the sparkle of holiday lights while exploring holiday pop-up shops from unique local retailers to find that perfect gift for your special someone.

The holiday spirit is in the air, and the PDX Pop-Up Shops are back, adding good cheer and excitement to downtown Portland. These beloved pop-up shops transform vacant retail spaces in downtown Portland into vibrant, temporary destinations for local designers and artists.

Downtown Portland Clean & Safe is thrilled to unveil this year’s holiday PDX Pop-Up lineup, featuring an exciting range of businesses. From an Indigenous Marketplace, hot sauces, ceramics, and vintage clothing to a spooky-themed coffee and dessert bar, this season’s selection promises something for everyone. Highlights include  floral storybook boxes and the magical artistry of Mike Bennett, bringing a festive touch to the Holidays. We’re also delighted to welcome back Reverend Dr. Leroy Barber, who will bring Black Santa and his team of helpers to Downtown, adding extra joy this holiday season.

“The PDX Pop-Up Shops are a treasured tradition during the holiday season in downtown Portland,” said Sydney Mead, Senior Director of Downtown Programs for Downtown Portland Clean & Safe.

This season, we’re excited to highlight several festive additions. Ceramics NW has expanded to 10,000 square feet at Pioneer Place, showcasing works from over 70 ceramic artists. We’re activating Morgan’s Alley with a fresh lineup of Pop-Ups to add extra holiday magic to everyone’s shopping experience. Additionally, artist Mike Bennett will be opening ‘Mike Bennett’s Holiday Gift Shop’ at Director Park, where the team will also be bringing a ‘Snow Day Village’ to life for all to enjoy.

Now in its 15th year, the PDX Pop-Up Shops program has helped shape the retail landscape downtown. Past participants like Crafty Wonderland, Amity Artisan Goods, and the Portland Pickles’ Pickle Jar, have become key fixtures in our community, transforming from pop-ups to well-loved establishments.

PDX Pop-Up Shops will be open from November 15 until December 31, 2024. Hours for most locations are Wednesday – Sunday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., with special hours on Christmas Eve from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
