Thank you so much to everyone who joined us today for the ribbon cutting of this wonderful new park in the heart of Portland!
This brand-new plaza and civic stage at 800 SW Harvey Milk Street is an incredible milestone for our central city. Hosted by the legendary @dr_poisonwaters, we unveiled the space honoring our ultimate icon, Walter Cole (aka Darcelle XV).
Today was just a sneak peek—the plaza is closing briefly for final construction touches before the official community blowout next week. Mark your calendars for next Thursday, June 25th at 5 PM for the massive, free Spectacular-Spectacular Grand Opening party! Come ready for live drag shows, food, drinks, a concert with the Oregon Symphony, dancing, and a glam station to get Darcelle’s signature look.
This opening also kicks off Downtown Portland’s Summer of Love, running all July and August. The plaza will be buzzing every week with great programming:
-Wednesdays: Summer Sounds outdoor concert series
-Thursdays: Happy Hour Drag Delights
-Fridays: Shakespeare Unbuttoned and Friday Night Flicks
-Sundays: Drag Queen Storytime
