Making downtown a place everyone loves means investing in the experiences that bring us together. Clean & Safe partners with organizations to support events and initiatives that enhance downtown’s cultural vibrancy and create connections across our community.
Together we’re stronger
We build strong partnerships with the City of Portland, local businesses, and nonprofits that strengthen our entire district. Our staff maintains long-term relationships with three formal neighborhood associations—the Pearl Neighborhood Association, the Old Town Community Association, and the Downtown Neighborhood Association. Through these sustained partnerships, we connect the people doing direct work in our district with the resources and networks they need to serve our community effectively.
National Night Out
National Night Out is a nationwide community-building event held on the first Tuesday in August that brings neighbors together for block parties, cookouts, and events with local police and first responders. We sponsor an event at Director Park connecting people with law enforcement and other first responders under positive circumstances, fostering safer and more connected neighborhoods.

Old Town Chinatown is a historic district that is home to major cultural attractions, local businesses, and diverse communities. We serve our entire downtown district, but Old Town receives enhanced support through additional street tree lighting installations, dedicated business promotion and marketing, and partnerships with neighborhood events like Saturday Market, Lunar New Year celebrations, and the Return of the Dragon Parade. We’re committed to helping this unique neighborhood thrive.
Portland Winter Light Festival
The Portland Winter Light Festival transforms downtown Portland into a glowing canvas of art and community connection. Hosted by the Willamette Light Brigade, this free, city-wide event in February brings stunning light installations, interactive displays, fire sculptures, and performances by local artists to anchor sites like Pioneer Courthouse Square and the World Trade Center, with pop-up events illuminating neighborhoods across the city.
Portland Staycation
The Portland Staycation is a weekend designed to activate downtown from within, by Portlanders, for Portlanders. Book a stay at a participating downtown hotel, dine out at local restaurants, explore unique offerings from retailers and event creators, and experience our vibrant city with fresh eyes.
