The district is one of the oldest, largest, and most successful enhanced service districts in the nation. Initially founded in 1988 as an informal group of downtown property owners and managers, the Downtown Portland Clean & Safe District was later formalized in city code in 1991. The district underwent several renewals in the 1990s before Portland City Council decided to renew the district every 10 years in 2001.

Property owners within the district pay a fee to raise money that supplements publicly-financed services for neighborhood improvement including cleaning, security, market research, public space activation and retail advocacy.
The Downtown Portland Clean & Safe district is a 273-block enhanced service area in Downtown Portland.

@chefmichaelmina, a chef with a Michelin star and a James Beard Award, is opening one of his San Francisco concepts in Downtown Portland.
@barsprezzatura is expected to open this fall in the @heathmanportland, and will be modeled after the bàcari, or wine bars, of Venice. The restaurant will feature all-day dining but will be bar-forward, with an extensive beverage menu. @theminagroup will also take over food and beverage operations at the Heathman.
We`re so thrilled to see such a renown dining concept find a home downtown inside one of Portland`s most beloved hotels! Portland`s outstanding culinary scene continues to expand and flourish.

For six festive weeks, selected businesses will have the opportunity to operate their own Downtown storefront during the busy holiday shopping season.

Projected Lines runs through September 30 and features four stops and five artists. The tour is a free and self-guided exploration of art, architecture, and storytelling.
The tour is run by the @oldtownpdx and sponsored by @traveloregon.

After this morning’s fantastic unveiling, @wildwoodfollowthecrowspdx art trail is officially live! Thirty hand-painted crows have just landed in downtown Portland.

Sydney Mead, our Senior Director of Downtown Programs, spoke on @kgwnews Hello Rose City show about the Wildwood: Follow the Crows Art Trail coming to downtown Portland and beyond!
The trail officially launches tomorrow, August 7! Join us at the St. Johns Library from 11:00 AM to noon for a ribbon cutting and launch event.
The trail celebrates @laikastudios` newest film Wildwood, based on the novel written by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis. Proceeds from the auction at the end of the trail go to @ohsudoernbecher.
TriMet is finalizing its purchase of the Greyhound terminal at 550 NW 6th Avenue with plans to use the space as a bus layover facility. Further down the road, @trimet is considering exploring options to add a mixed-use, high-density, transit-oriented development to the site.
