During the May board meeting, the Downtown Portland Clean & Safe board of directors voted to approve Amanda Lowthian, director of public affairs and regional strategy at Travel Portland, as its newest member.
As the director of public affairs and regional strategy at Travel Portland, Amanda oversees the Regional Cooperative Tourism Program (RCTP), Portland Region, which aligns the destination marketing and management efforts of five organizations across four metro-area counties in close partnership with Travel Oregon.
Before joining Travel Portland in 2017, Lowthian served as a business development specialist for Business Oregon, the economic development agency for the State of Oregon. She oversaw statewide programs supporting local communities seeking to recruit new employers and led multi-jurisdictional teams on international and domestic recruitment missions. Prior to joining Business Oregon, Lowthian was Portland Mayor Tom Potter’s policy manager for economic development with portfolio assignments that included Prosper Portland, the Portland Business Alliance and Travel Portland. As a television writer and producer, Lowthian’s credits include programs for Discovery Communications and A&E Television Networks.
