For the past five years, The Grate Company had ambitions of operating a home-gift studio in Downtown. Co-owners Greg + Nate Soliven decided it was time to open a brick-and-mortar. They set into an action plan of reviewing their business plans, meeting with other business folks to understand operations, finances, and different ways of funding. Soon after, Grate Co. learned about the 2021 PDX Pop-Up opportunity, and everything came together beautifully.
“Our main product lines include candles, hand soaps, and room sprays,” says co-owner Greg Soliven. “We also offer services like floral arranging/installations, gifting, wedding and event planning/design, and interior design. When creating beautiful products and moments/experiences, we love to really get to know the ingredients, products, and people that are involved in the process. We love having the opportunity to learn about how we can do things more sustainability and how we can be more inclusive in our business practices.”
