- SOLVE has hosted three cleanups since the Downtown Portland Volunteer Litter Cleanup Day began on September 3.
- In total, more than 1,000 people have volunteered their time and energy to clean up Portland.
- In total, SOLVE has collected over 10,000 pounds of litter and debris from Portland’s streets, sidewalks, and green spaces. Each piece of litter collected removes the possibility of it entering our local waterways and river.
- During the downtown cleanups, SOLVE has been collecting cigarette butts. The cigarettes collected during the downtown cleanups have helped push SOLVE over the half a million butts collected mark. We send our collected cigarette butts to a company called Terracycle.
SOLVE collects cigarettes at many of their projects, but the majority of the half a million cigarettes we have sent to Terracycle are from downtown Portland
