Meet our Central City Concern Clean Start Cleaning Crew member, Larry Hall!

Downtown Portland Clean & Safe is proud to partner with Central City Concern to provide cleaning crews that serve a 213-block area in central downtown. In partnership with Central City Concern’s Clean Start Program, the program trains, mentors and employs workers who are formerly homeless and/or who have barriers to employment.

Our cleaning crews sweep sidewalks, remove graffiti, pick up litter, and pressure wash outdoor surfaces. In addition to their routine routes, they also respond to immediate requests from downtown businesses. We would love the community to become more familiar with the great crew members that make up the Clean Start Program and look forward to featuring a monthly member in our newsletter and website.

This month, we are happy to feature Clean Start Crew Member Larry Hall:

1) Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Larry Hall. I was born in Corpus Christi Texas. I am a music artist, and I study martial arts.

2) Tell us why you do this work.

I love to give back to the community as well as make it a cleaner environment for our children.

3) What does your workday consist of?

Special projects, graffiti removal, and janitorial clean-up at houseless camps.

4) What do you look forward to when you head to work every day?

Knowing that I look forward to making each day better and getting that “thank you” and “good job” for doing such good work.

5) What is your hope for the downtown area?

My hope is that the people who are houseless seek and get their medical and residential needs met.

6) Is there anything else you’d like to share?

Always be mindful of others and work as a team. I am grateful I have this job with CCC. I have really changed my life here!

THANK YOU, LARRY, FOR YOUR GREAT SERVICE!
