304 SW Washington St Directions
Housed in Dekum Building, Blueplate is an old-school downtown diner specializing in comfort food: American-style. And, as there are only three items on the Blueplate menu and they change daily, the choice of what to order is effortless.

3. Mama Mia Trattoria mamamiatrattoria.com
439 SW 2nd Ave. Directions
Open for lunch Monday-Friday and for dinner seven nights a week, Mama Mia Trattoria serves delicious southern Italian-American soul food, like that found at many restaurants in New York’s Little Italy. Everything is made from scratch, using the best possible ingredients. Our veal is free-range and naturally fed, and our mozzarella is made in-house, fresh daily. Specialties include Grandma Mary’s Sunday “Gravy,” with meatballs, pork and sausage; homemade gnocchi, manicotti and ravioli; and chicken and veal parmigiana, marsala, Francese and Picatta.

4. Huber's Cafe www.hubers.comDining
411 SW 3rd Ave. Directions
Established in 1879, Huber’s is Portland’s oldest restaurant. Specializing in a traditional turkey dinner, we like to say that "it's Thanksgiving every day at Huber's.” If you’re not up for a traditional turkey dinner, Huber’s also serves certified angus beef filet mignon, rib and New York steak, a variety of fresh seafood, entrée salads and pasta dishes. The signature drink is Spanish Coffee prepared tableside with great flair. Enjoy dining at our historic location inside the Oregon Pioneer Building, pick up box lunches or have your event catered. However you choose to experience Huber’s, you’ll be pleasantly satisfied.

5. Valentine's valentineslifeblood.blogspot.comDining
232 SW Ankeny St. Directions
Valentine's has all the trappings of a Portland coffee shop, without actually being a coffee shop. It's more like a panini boutique with great music [the restaurant does double duty as a late-night music venue]. An abundance of sandwiches grace the menu, all available toasty warm with the telltale markings of a panini grill.
